The short version
- ✓No tracking cookies. This site does not set cookies on your browser.
- ✓No analytics. No Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Umami, no custom tracking of any kind.
- ✓No third-party embeds that would load JavaScript or fingerprint your browser. Fonts are bundled at build time, not loaded from external CDNs at runtime.
- ✓The only form on this site is the Publish-page waitlist. It POSTs to a local JSONL store under the maintainer's control, writes a sha256-truncated IP hash, and never shares the email with any third party.
1. Data controller
Data controller within the meaning of the GDPR (DSGVO) is the operator listed in the Imprint.
2. Server logs
When you visit this website, the hosting provider automatically collects and stores information in server log files that your browser transmits. This includes:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Referrer URL
- Hostname of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address (in truncated form where technically possible)
This data is not merged with other data sources. The basis for processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR (legitimate interest in the technically error-free presentation and optimization of the website). These logs are automatically deleted after a maximum of 14 days.
3. Waitlist form
The Publish page has a creator waitlist form. When you submit it, the data you entered (email, pack idea, optional GitHub handle) is persisted server-side in a plain JSONL file on the maintainer's hosting environment. Your IP address is sha256-hashed and truncated to 16 hex characters before storage; raw IPs are never stored. The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR (your explicit consent by submitting the form). You can request deletion at any time via the email address in the Imprint.
4. External links
This site links to external services (GitHub, Gumroad, Ollama, and similar). Clicking an external link takes you to a site with its own privacy policy. We have no influence on what data those services collect — please review their respective privacy statements if you have concerns.
5. The Cognithor software itself
This privacy policy covers only the marketing website. The Cognithor software you install on your own machine is a separate matter: it runs locally, collects no telemetry, and never transmits your data to us or to any third party. See the Manifesto for the full local-first commitment.
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, and delete personal data we process about you (Art. 15–17 GDPR), as well as the right to data portability (Art. 20), the right to object (Art. 21), and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77).
Because this site collects almost no personal data, most of these rights are moot in practice. For questions, contact the email address listed in the Imprint.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when we add new features to the site that process data differently. The last-updated date below tracks the most recent change. Material changes will be announced on the blog.
